VAR

The V-coat (VAR) derives its name from its characteristic performance curve and consists of two layers.  The VAR provides extremely low reflectance over a narrow wavelength region, and is thus typically used on laser optics.  The VAR is sensitive to substrate index of refraction and the angle of incidence.  Common VAR coatings are for the YAG fundamental at 1064 nm, the doubled YAG at 532 nm, the ArF excimer laser at 254 nm and the XeCl excimer at 308 nm.
