Schott OG series glass is a colloidally colored orange glass that transmits infrared radiation and absorbs ultraviolet radiation. The transmittance profile for OG series glass has the general shape of a long pass filter. In general, the colorants in these glasses are highly dependent on secondary heat treatments during manufacture and exhibit variation within any given melt due to temperature gradients during the striking process. All of the Schott OG series glasses exhibit a tendency to stain and are susceptible to acid etching. All are relatively impervious to alkali attack.
